Surly and All-City are two of the top steel frame bike makers out there! These bikes can do it all. They have many different models–most with a wide range of versatility. We try to keep our favorites in stock in a variety of sizes. Theresa (Family Bicycles’ Owner) is on the short side so she tries to keep one or two short ones around.
It is just not possible for us to have every color and size of every model in stock. We can order anything from both companies with delivery generally in 5-7 days. We will make every effort to have at least one of the following models on the floor.
The different price levels and component offerings can be confusing–we’ve tried to narrow the choices for you. Please come on in and ask us all of your questions–we are here to help you find YOUR perfect bike!
Surly Disc Trucker:. The Long Haul Trucker enjoys a reputation as one of the best riding and most value-packed touring bikes out there. It’s been around long enough to be tested in the real world, in all kinds of places, with all kinds of loads on all kinds of roads.
Surly Straggler:. It’s a day tripper and a weekender. It’s a ‘rough road’ road bike. It’s a cyclocross bike with no pretense about racing. It’s a utilitarian townie. It’s a light-duty touring bike. It’s an all-weather commuter. And when you get tired of one set up, you can swap parts around and turn it into something else.
Surly Straggler 650b:.650b wheels strike a nice balance between the benefits of both 26” and 700c sizes. The smaller wheel allows smaller riders to fit well on smaller frames, produces a stronger wheel, makes fitting big ass tires easier and are more agile than their larger counterparts.
Surly Troll: Off-road touring can be a zesty enterprise, but it’s not without its perils. If you’re going to ride your bicycles where no one can see, you better take gear that’s up to the task. Troll is up to the taskThe Troll has evolved into a frame that has been pushed deeper into the category of off-road touring. Troll is a bike that has one purpose – and that purpose is to carry you as far away from society as possible.
Surly Cross-Check:.The Cross-Check does a good job of most things people use bikes for. It’s a cyclocross bike by design but that’s not how most people use it. It does as good a job getting you across the country as it does getting you across town. It’s at home on the road and on trails, on gravel, and just about whatever else you might run into. It’ll take pretty big tires, or smaller ones if you like. It can be built as a geared bike, a singlespeed or a fixed-gear.
Surly Ogre:.Built of 4130 CroMoly steel and based on the tried-and-true geometry of our venerable Karate Monkey, Ogre is designed to be a platform for exploration, commuting, trailer-pulling, on-road and off-road touring, and just riding along.
Surly Krampus: Five years ago, we launched the Krampus because we wanted something that was more than a mountain bike but less than a fatbike. We dubbed it a “plus bike” and set it loose on the world. It turns out, people were in to it. Fast-forward a few years and you can barely swing a dead cat without hitting a plus bike. Anyway, the original Krampus brought a lot to the table in regards to terrain-tackling and trail-ripping abilities. As “standards” have evolved, so too has the Krampus. Now featuring our Gnot-Boost rear spacing, the Krampus can take whatever mountain bike hub you feel compelled to ride. If you’re looking to ride through/over/off of obstacles, may the Krampus be your mighty steed.
